Molt
Shed a scale. Launch yourself through danger. Hope you have enough left.
Molt is a tight precision platformer where your health is your moveset. Molt: shedding a scale for a directional dash that cuts through enemies and clears impossible gaps. Every molt makes you lighter and faster. Every hit costs a scale. Run out, and the next mistake is your last.
Built for the Kenney Jam 2026. Three levels, twenty rooms.

How it plays
- Molt to dash : Aim with movement + jump. Shed a scale, blast in your chosen direction.
- Mass matters : Four scales means grounded. One scale means fast, floaty, and a touch away from death.
- Scales are weapons : Dash through enemies while molting to shatter them. Walk through, and you lose a scale the hard way.
- Refill stations : Green pads restore all your scales. Gold pads restore once, then crumble into stone.
- Chase the rank : Clear times earn S / A / B / C ranks. Shards are optional, but every one you miss adds time to your score.
Controls
No rebind support yet, couldn't make it in time for the jam build, sorry
| Action | Keyboard | Gamepad |
| Move | A / D or ← / → | Left stick |
| Jump | Space / W / ↑ | A (North face button) |
| Molt (dash) | Left click / F | X (West face button) |
| Reset | R | D-pad Down |
| Pause | Escape | Start |
Tips
- You can't molt with zero scales. Plan your route before you run empty.
- Entering a new room refills your scales [ unless the room says otherwise (: ]
- Dying rewinds the current room. You'll have to re-grab shards, and re-fight enemies.
- Missed shares add +2 seconds to your final score. Deaths add +4 seconds.

Really cool! I suck at these games so I didn't get that far, but the game is solid, feels fantastic to play and has a nice vibe. Well done!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm considering revisiting post-jam, and if I did I would try to add difficulty settings. Cheers!
I set zero records, for sure, on that last level. But man, that was nicely done. Solid little game. Appreciated the sound settings and the save points in rooms for sure.
Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah I think this is maybe my second time ever doing level design, so I'm sure the difficulty isn't exactly good. Thanks for playing (:
Oh, this was NOT a knock on the difficulty. I'm crap at platformers! It was pretty good IMO.
